Beginner Classes

In our beginner class you will be provided with a pre-dopped piece of quality CZ, ready to go. You will learn how to read and understand faceting diagrams and how to adjust and use the faceting machine. As you work on the pavilion of your stone you will be learning about the different types of laps and how they are used, how to control the depth of your cut and how to use your loupe to bring your meet points in perfectly. When you get to the polishing stage you will learn how to use the cheater to bring in the polish evenly and how to adjust your light so you can really see the facet surface and any scratches or pits that need attention.

After the pavilion is complete you will learn how to transfer the stone, and then move on to finish your crown. At the end of the second day you will walk out with a finished gemstone in your pocket and a big grin on your face.

We have a limited number of faceting machines available on a first come first served basis. If you have your own machine we highly recommend that you bring it as it is much better to learn on your own machine.
